Joshua Yang

Joshua Yang is a PhD student working in the SNF 'Digital Democracy' project at the chair of Computational Social Science at ETH Zürich. He mainly focuses on collective decision-making process supported by digital means, a topic that intersects computational social choice, NLP, civic tech and human centred design. In the SNF project, he actively works with the city of Aarau on their implementation of a digital Participatory Budgeting platform. Prior to Zürich, Joshua participated in the Taiwanese civic tech community, and he also received his master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne, with a focus on NLP and human-centred speech technology.
